George Benson mentions David right before he plays Danny Boy. On David’s first trip to the Zinc Bar in the 90s George played Danny Boy as it was David’s birthday. He had told George a story he had heard about a concert at the Cork Jazz festival where three solo pianists, clearly not hearing each other’s sets played Danny Boy and by the third one the audience gave an audible “Oh no!”. So that’s where George gets the “George, If you go to Ireland do not play Danny Boy” from :)
