David teaches a variety of classes and courses on arranging for Orchestra, Big Band or small group writing in the jazz idiom. All classes feature multimedia support materiels as well course materiels handed out for continued study.
Big Band Writing - taught at Columbia University, NYC subbing for Don Sickler. David provided an overview of voicing styles from Neal Hefti (Count Basie) through to Thad Jones and Gil Evans.
Writing For Strings in Jazz and American Music - David will present this class at SUNY, New Paltz, NY at the end of April while he’s performing with and conducting for Steve Wilson.
