In the meantime here are a few upcoming and recent events.
May 27th, 6 - 10pm, David will perform in a 10 piece ensemble led by Fintan O’Neill, featuring Abraham Burton (saxes), Duane “Cook” Broadnax (drums) among others - watch this space for venue details.
May 31st, David conducted some more arrangements from the “Charlie Parker with Strings” sessions with Steve Wilson as soloist - this time with te boys and girls of the JSYO who were joined by the Sirius String Quartet as the core of the string section with added string players.
June 9th 1-3pm Fintan O’Neill leads a Big Band (17 pieces) with David playing guitar, Kevin Burke (vocalist) - Marine Park Brooklyn 1-3pm.
April 27-29 2009, Steve Wilson was artist-in-residence at SUNY, New Paltz, in upstate New York. David was invited by Steve to arrange and conduct the strings as well as play guitar on the final concert. David also taught a special “String Writing in Jazz and American Music” class while Steve and he coached some of the college ensembles. Bassist for the final concert was Ira Coleman. In addition to discussing some of the “Charlie Parker With Strings” arrangements David presented some analyses of the work of arrangers such as Nelson Riddle, Robert Farnon, Ralph Carmichael and more...
Steve performed some of the Bird With Strings arrangements in the concert.
Every Sunday 2-3pm, David directs the JSYO (Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra) at Jazz Standard in New York City.

April 15th, between 2 and 4pm David will be interviewed live on NYC Talk Radio about his work with the JSYO.
